Mammoth Hot Springs — Geothermal Silk Scarf

Some photographs don't need any help... I live near Yellowstone and visit every year — not to check it off a list, but to look deeply at what it does. At Mammoth Hot Springs, superheated water carries dissolved minerals to the surface, depositing travertine layer by layer over thousands of years. The result is this: chalky white terraces stained with amber, rust, and deep burnt sienna — colors made entirely by geology and time. I photographed directly into one of the pools, did not alter the image, and printed it on silk. What you are wearing is Yellowstone, exactly as it is.
