Kestrel Fringe Tote — American Bison Leather with Hand-Painted Fringe
Built from the Wild, Painted by Hand
The American Kestrel is the smallest bird of prey in North America — and one of the most striking. Russet wings, slate-blue feathers, a boldness that doesn't match its size. This tote is built in its honor.
The body is American bison leather: thick, pebbled, and deeply characterful. Bison leather is tougher and more textured than standard cowhide — it softens and improves with age and develops a patina that tells the story of where it's been. I hand-selected this hide for its color and grain before cutting every piece by hand and sewing it entirely by hand in my workshop.
The front pocket fringe is where the Kestrel comes alive. I hand-cut each individual fringe strip and painted them by hand, drawing the colors directly from the bird's own feather patterns — warm russet, dusty blue, soft cream, and ochre. The live-edge trim on the pocket is detailed with a single Swarovski crystal — a small, deliberate touch of elegance.
There is one of this bag. When it's gone, it's gone.
