Spirit of the Prairie — Indian Paintbrush Silk Scarf
Some wildflowers stop you on the trail...
Indian Paintbrush is one of mine. I encounter it every summer hiking at higher elevations in Montana — that unmistakable burst of coral and flame red pushing up through rocky soil, unbothered by altitude or wind. What I love about this flower is its range: it grows wild from the mountain meadows of Montana all the way south through the prairies to Texas, often found growing alongside bluebells in a combination that feels almost too perfect. It belongs to the whole West. I illustrated the blooms in a soft washy watercolor and let the script say what I was feeling — Spirit of the Prairie. That's exactly what it is.
