The Little Fawn

Warm as an October afternoon in the foothills — and just as hard to leave behind.

I named this bag Little Fawn after Jim Bridgers’ wife.  In this rendition, I chose a
warm ochre bison leather that shifts between honey and tobacco depending on the light. It’s the
color of tall grass at the end of summer, and Montana in the best possible season.

The flap is genuine goat hair hide, coordinating in tone and completely wild in
texture. No two goat hair hides look the same. The bag closes with a solid
brass magnetic snap and is entirely hand-sewn, stitch by stitch, in my Bozeman
workshop.

The bison leather has what leather people call “pull up” — a characteristic where
the hide lightens slightly under pressure and deepens again as it relaxes. It’s a
sign of quality, not a flaw. This leather will develop a rich patina over years of
use, getting more beautiful the longer you carry it.

A note about bison leather: Bison hides are rugged and characterful — natural
markings, scars, and variations are part of the hide’s identity and beauty.
This hide will age beautifully and only improve with time and use.
A note about goat hair: To clean the goat hair flap, brush gently in the
direction of the hair with a soft bristle brush. Avoid saturating with water.
Shake lightly to restore volume if the hair becomes compressed.

A collector’s note: This bag carries my original maker’s mark — BRIDGER HOME,
the name I used from 2017 to 2023 before the brand became Bridger Leather. It’s
a small piece of the brand’s early history, and I think that makes it a little
more special.
